Wes Brodhead moved to St. Albert shortly after marrying his wife Marilyn in 1980. Over the last 33 years, Wes and his wife Marilyn raised two children (Aaron and Stephanie), who are now both married and living in St. Albert.
Wes, after a 35 year career, recently retired from his position as Director of Bus Operations with Edmonton Transit where he was in charge of more than 1,600 personnel operating in four divisions with a budget in excess of $110 million. During his career, Wes was responsible for introducing nationally adopted best practises within the transit industry and served as an elected president of the Prairie Region of the Canadian Urban Transit Association. As a manager for the City of Edmonton, Wes served two terms as the elected president of the City of Edmonton Management Association.
Wes was first elected to St. Albert City Council in 2010. As Councillor, Wes has served on the Sturgeon Foundation Board, the Edmonton Salutes Committee, the Arts and Heritage Foundation Board, the Disaster Services Committee, the Community Advisory Committee, the Inter-municipal Affairs Committee and as alternates to the Capital Region Board Transit Committee, the Subdivision Appeal Board, the Environmental Advisory Committee and other ad hoc committees as required.
Wes has contributed to his community in other capacities as well. As his children grew, he volunteered as a soccer coach, basketball coach and as a Boy Scout leader. He as served six years on the St. Albert Library Board and two years on the St. Albert Environmental Advisory Committee. Wes also volunteers in his local church community and serves on their governing board.
