With Worthy President – Lorraine Stevenson
This past Saturday evening, I had the privilege of joining Councillor Cathy Heron in celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the St. Albert local of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Together, we were welcomed at the annual banquet which recognizes members who have achieved long service milestones. The highlight of the evening festivities was the Eagles’ significant monetary donation to three local charities all of which spoke with gratitude of the ongoing support of this service club.
This local association has truly lived out their Order’s motto of “people helping people” in the region around St. Albert.
I was given the opportunity to bring greetings to the Eagles on behalf of Council and the people of St. Albert when Councillor Heron was called away to another commitment. It was heartening to speak to such a dedicated group of community builders. I say community builders because they have chosen to dedicate their time and resources to a cause greater than themselves. They understand that, from time to time, many in our society require assistance to navigate the challenges of life. A city transforms into a community when individuals and organizations come together to help others in need.

St. Albert is blessed with an abundance of community minded individuals. Those who gather and work together under the banner of the Fraternal Order of Eagles are fine examples.
