I had the opportunity to support the Mayor of Redwater by participating in his first annual golf tournament August 21st. Tournament proceeds will go to support the development of a trail system in their community. Being an active supporter of our Red Willow trail system, I jumped at the chance to help. What would St. Albert be without the miles of meandering paths along the Sturgeon River and through our parks? Residents of Redwater deserve to have something similar.

Another benefit of this event was that I, along with many others, had the privilege of sharing dinner with our Premier, The Honourable Allison Redford. During the course of the evening, the group was updated by Doug Bertsch of the North West Redwater Partnership on the progress of the North West Upgrader located in the industrial heartland just south of Redwater. Construction is ready to begin on the physical plant, which is exciting news. The influence of this project will be felt far beyond the capital region and indeed, Alberta. It will have an impact throughout all of Canada in many ways.
It was a very eventful day followed by a wonderful and informative evening. Participating in a day like this is but one of the many reasons why I love being on St. Albert City Council.
